Tailgate in Luxury This Football Season with a Lexus
Whether your allegiance lies with the Hurricanes or Seminoles, the Dolphins or Buccaneers, or your local high-school team, there is a shared excitement in the air for the start of another football season. And of course, that means another autumn of tailgating with delicious food and cold beverages.
If you’d like to up your “pre-game” this year, we have highlighted a handful of Lexus models that can make your parking spot seem more like a luxury box.
2014 Lexus LX
With room for up to eight football fans and an additional 15.5 cubic feet of space for gear in the back, the Lexus LX is our tailgating MVP. The full-size luxury SUV features a height-adjustable air suspension and a lower tailgate that folds down flat, so you can easily create a workstation for dressing up brats or mixing drinks. As Lexus’ range-topping SUV, the LX is packed with high-quality materials and convenient features, including an available center-console-mounted cool box that can keep beverages cold if you don’t have time to pack a cooler before the game.
2014 Lexus GX
Though it may be smaller than the LX, the more affordable Lexus GX still fits up to seven passengers, and its optional power fold-flat, 50/50-split third-row seats allow you to optimize your passenger-to-party supply ratio with the touch of a button. If you’re a dedicated tailgater with heavy-duty cooking equipment, the GX comes standard with a 301-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 engine, allowing the SUV to tow up to 6,500 pounds. On the way to the stadium, rear passengers can get ready for the action by watching last year’s football highlights or playing the Madden NFL video game on the optional seven-inch dual-LCD-screen Rear-Seat Entertainment System.
2014 Lexus RX
As the sleekest of Lexus’ SUVs, the RX will get you to the stadium in style while leaving more gas in the tank. The base 270-horsepower Lexus RX 350 returns up to 25 mpg on the highway, while the 295-horsepower RX 450h hybrid nets up to 28 mpg. With the RX’s standard power rear door, you can open up access to your grilling gear from either inside the cabin or remotely using a button on the SmartAccess fob. After the game, the crossover SUV’s optional heated and ventilated front seats can keep you comfortable, whether you’ve been baking in the sun or enduring a chilly torrential downpour.
2014 Lexus CT 200h
If you’re searching for a smaller, more efficient vehicle that still has the versatility to enhance your tailgating experience, look no further than the boldly styled Lexus CT hybrid. The CT 200h achieves up to 42 mpg in combined city and highway driving, making it an excellent choice for commuters, yet it features a rear hatch for accessing a cargo area that can customized by the 60/40-spilt fold-down rear seats. Buyers who opt for the 10-speaker Lexus Premium Sound System will also receive a speaker in the very back that can clearly project your favorite tunes toward the party.
